Do I have to move out?

This is the most frequently asked question. The answer is no. Accessibility to bathrooms and bedrooms is the greatest concern. We work with our customers schedules to ensure they have access to areas when needed. During wood floor refinishing, early morning coats are dry by late afternoon when residents return home from work.

What about the dust?

When sanding floors there is minimal dust. To minimize this, our machines are equipped with powerful vacuum systems. The dust is collected and removed from the house and disposed of.

What about my furniture?

All furniture must be removed from rooms that are going to sanded. the homeowner is responsible for furniture moving, unless prearranged with GT Wood Flooring.

Are hardwood floors more expensive than other flooring?

The initial cost of hardwood flooring, installation and finishing, is a big investment. But, wood flooring retains and increases the monetary value of homes and buildings. Unlike other flooring, wood floors will last years longer than any other flooring choices.

How long does it take for the floor to dry after each coat of finish?

The first coat takes 4-6 hours. The final coats of oil based polyurethane will take 8-12 hours. The final coats of water based polyurethane will take 4-6 hours.

What temperature should the rooms be during the finishing process?

The home should maintain 68-72 degrees Fahrenheit with minimal humidity. If it is too hot or too cold or too humid, it could cause the finish to dry incorrectly.

What are engineered hardwood floors?

Engineered hardwood floors range in widths 3-7 inches wide. They come in a wide variety of domestic and exotic species. Some are available in popular hand scraped styles.
